How Kua 2 is calculated

STEP 1

Sum the year digitsAdd all digits of birth year to a single digit. 1976 → 1+9+7+6 = 23 → 2+3 = 5

STEP 2

Apply gender formulaMale: 10 − digit = Kua (if result is 5, use Kua 2). Female: digit + 5 = Kua (if result is 5, use Kua 8). Uses Solar calendar — year starts ~Feb 4.

EXAMPLE

Male born 1976digit = 5 → 10 − 5 = 5 → use Kua 2. Also: male born 1985: 1+9+8+5=23→5, 10−5=5 → Kua 2.
