How to Set Up a Building in Baguame
Building setup holds the settings that every calculator reads: plan, north, facing direction, outline, grid, scale, and location. Each setting shows whether it is complete, and the editor shows how many are left.
To open it, go to the building page and click Building setup.

The building name and type are also set here. Building types are Apartment, Private house, Townhouse, Duplex, Office, Commercial space, and Other.
Set the facing direction
Set north first, because the facing direction is calculated from it.
- Click Facing direction.
- Set the direction in one of these ways:
- Rotate the circle so that the blue Facing arrow points out of the front of the building.
- Click Enter facing and sitting manually, and then enter the degrees.
- Click Define on Google Maps, and then set the direction on a satellite view of your address.
- In Period, select the construction period of the building.
- Click Save.
The sitting direction is opposite the facing direction by default. For help choosing the direction, see How to determine your home's natal chart parameters.
Trace the outline of your home
Trace the outline if your home is L-shaped or otherwise irregular.
- Click Building contour.
- Drag the corners along the outer walls. To add a point, tap an edge.
- Optional: Turn on Use Tai Chi point as center.
- Click Save.
The Tai Chi point is the geometric center of the outline. When Use Tai Chi point as center is on, Eight Mansions, Annual Afflictions, the Natal Chart Map, and the 24 Mountains are measured from this point instead of the center of the plan frame.
On the Bagua Map, each sector then shows the percentage that lies outside the walls.
Adjust the grid
The custom grid is used only in Flying Stars, Zi Bai Stars, and the Natal Chart Map. In some schools, stars are assigned to real rooms and zones rather than equal ninths of the plan. The Bagua Map always uses the equal grid, so that missing zones stay visible.
- Click Grid settings.
- Drag the purple points or the blue handles so that the sectors cover the right rooms. To move a whole row or column, hold Shift.
- Click Save.
Set the plan scale
- Click Plan scale.
- Drag the ends of the orange line onto a wall or dimension you know. To keep the line straight, hold Shift.
- In Line length, enter the real length.
- Click Save.
If sizes are printed on your plan, the AI can read them and set the scale during the building analysis. Check the result in this step.
Add a floor
Each floor has its own plan, rooms, elements, and AI analysis. North, facing direction, and location are shared by the whole building.
- In the floor switcher, click Add floor.
- In Floor name, enter a name.
- Upload the plan of the floor.
- Rotate and crop the plan to match the other floors.
Floor types are Floor, Basement, Ground level (plinth), Mezzanine, Attic, and Roof / terrace.
Deleting a floor also deletes its plan, rooms, and AI analyses. You can't undo this.
