STEP 1

Sum the year digitsAdd all digits of birth year to a single digit. 1977 → 1+9+7+7 = 24 → 2+4 = 6

STEP 2

Apply gender formulaMale: 10 − digit = Kua. Female: digit + 5 = Kua (subtract 9 if over 9). Uses Solar calendar — year starts ~Feb 4.
